Corbyn filed patent GB2071327 29th Nov 1979. Bruce Candy mentioned Corbyn and Poole in his patent, filed early in 1990. It's unclear if he even knew of Eric's work. The internet as we know it now didn't exist and searching patent data bases was time consuming, costly and a nightmare. The only other source of info was in prestige journals. The GS4 was mentioned once in one small article in our G&T magazine but it was never mentioned again.

The idea of identifying a noise and subtracting it has been around since electronics was a pup. The art is in devising the most efficient way to do this. If you succeed and the idea is novel then you can patent it. Candy’s Litz wire patent was granted because of a novel finding even though this wire had been previously used in coils. There are several patents proposing variations of ML's method but most are based on simple relic hunting pi theory and have serious flaws when it comes to dealing with our ground here in Oz. The ML patents aren't just based on multiple pulse lengths. You will be in trouble if you pinch the method proposed for a repetitive single pulse length.


A vlf was sometimes described as a mineral or out-of-balance detector. A pi isn't much different and also responds to minerals. It just doesn't need to cope with the ground X signal and the problems it causes for CW designs such as IB or VLF. In other words, vlf has it's own set of limitations and pi also has it's own, but separate set of limitations which are unlikely to be overcome. Competitors should have researched pi at least ten years ago. I think you will find they have left it too late!!!

Gpx 4500 release!

the gpx 4500 was to be released this week but has been delayed due to some problems.But expect dealers to have demo ones very soon perhaps by Easter?Ignore all bs from dealers and ml and clowns like JP who say this is not true. you can bank onitand say you heard it 1st here!

I have never received a cent from Minelab or anyone associated with Minelab nor have I received any goods or services. My association with ML, outside of actually using products I paid for out of my own pocket, has actually cost me time, fuel and money. My posts are based on my own views and findings alone, flawed or otherwise and I have never been asked or prompted to promote a product.

My sole interest is in obtaining accurate technical findings and information, not the drivel and speculative nonsense you are promoting on this forum and your own. You behave as someone suffering severe bi-polar disorder when the medication is out of whack. Please have this corrected before replying.

It is great to see the schematics of the world's best detector posted here.
FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE
Even if it is 13 years old.
OK for the COPYCATS.
Good for the hobbyist to tinker with.

I feel it is a shame that all the clever people on the forum can not come up with ideas of their own.
New ideas.
New designs.
Modern designs, using the much improved parts available today.
There are so many other possibilities to try. Why copy old stuff?
Are there no more inventors in this world?

Inventors and people with ideas, anybody with the courage to explore new avenues, please step forward.

I am sure that with the combined knowledge of the forum we can do better than the old SD2000

I think, it is a general problem of people, who have really good ideas. But these ideas are commonly copied/stolen by the companies. Most of us has not the money and resource for patenting the idea and companies do this easy and without shaming. So these people should write technical articles and should publish this on tech web (e.g. http://ieeexplore.ieee.org). When published on the public tech web, so this idea can not be patented anymore (prior art - not novel). Patent offices regular investigate on such tech webs - but not here!

I am sure, some of people are being watched by the companies thoroughly for good and new ideas here!!!
