      Thanks for sharing this project!
I can see it makes amazingly good perfomance, perhaps it will outperform PI Pirat in simplicity and in sensitivity.
If it not get any noticeable reaction from mineralised ground, it will outperform pirat by 100%.

Several month before i made detector working, forget it during f*ck corona hysteric

also i made a enclosure design for 3d printing, if i return at home i can share files here

          Hi Bernte!
Could you make some short video about detection range to small stuf, such us coins? It will be interesting what this "resonance type" detector can do.

my coil isnt perfect, i made a 28cm type but i thing i did not hit the right relation of both coil section (i made middle connection after 33 turns, it was nearly 3mH)

i weill retry it with coil specs from DON

also all critical hints written above are right, very uggly to set the trimmer for 3vpp

it is somewaht idiotical to do this inhouse, near flickering led light and with concrete floor

i need an outdoor calibration shack

Don's friend and mine sent me one he has built last winter. He says it works very well to 7" on a men's gold wedding ring.
Unfortunately, the parcel has been sitting in the US since early part of this year at my parents. I was going to go down there to visit from Canada. But, Covid hit and they closed the US-Canada border.
No guarantee when it will open again. Having it shipped up to me, should have it within the next 10 days.

                  i tried different coils
                  made of 0,4mm copper wire

50/50 wdg on 15cm outer diameter result in 4,2mH
                  44/44 wdg on 15cm 3,1mH

both coils tested shielded and unshielded in air give around 11cm for a big alu coin with 38mm dia (notgeld 50 millionen mark from 1923)

Thanks for coin tests! If it will be sensitive to mineralisation like surf pi, were will be no reason to build it. Surf pi gives around 10 cm in our ground, for coins, with 15 cm coil diameter.

The TR cannot be compared to the surf,
                      these are different techniques

Yes.. no comparison at all. The nice thing about the design is that i’s super stable, has a nice audio, very immune to ground response and is definitely deep enough for park hunting or yard hunting. No disc though : / but neither does a PI : )

Just got my parcel sent over to me from my parents. Looked at the TR board, sure is tiny. Like the small coil as well.
Have to find a small box for the board and battery. Looks like fun.
The board is 2019 rev. 13

It was the first detector I ever built and used.
It was a slightly modified circuit from a German book.
                              Switch on, go and find
