OK...now coil. As i said i am using original coil. I never tried to make coil for this one. I saw handmade coils (others made) and i didn't liked. Those coils looked to me as not done well.
However...i have some datas for those who want to try to make handmade coil;
Coil is 28cm DD,
TX= 65-75 windings, 0.45mm wire,
RX= 160-175 windings, 0.22-0.27mm wire...
Well...
Musketeer coil is 1mh (TX) and 15mH (RX), Fisher coils are 2.4mH (TX) and 9.6 - 11.6mh (RX)....
hi ivconic
how much depth detect for coin and larg target Most Wanted"????
Mesy64 it depends. Same case as at any other detector. It depends mostly on soil conditions, moisture, mineralisation etc...etc..
But considering all what i saw so far, testing many other models, this one is very deep (if done properly). If you read my previous posts you will see some of results i posted.
Coins it can detect deep...depends on mentioned reasons and coin itself, alloy, size, position (orientation) in soil, time spent in soil etc....etc..
Larger items - the better! More depths for sure.
Regards!
ivconic can this detector detect a gold coin in 40cm and a target 50cm *50cm in 2meter or 2250cm??????
Tough to answer! Those are high demands!
Gold coin....what size? If size was 4-5cm diamm. least, than i suppose it can detect it at 40cm depth. Never tried. Would you send me such gold coin for testing purposes??!
50x50cm...what metal? Zinc plate 50x50cm it could detect at 150-180cm for sure...in air. In soil....i don't think so..i never tried.
Ok...wait! I just remembered...
It can detect Al (Al + some alloy) can 10cm x 8cm (Tuna fish can) at 110cm in air and approx. 80cm burried in soil (coil was Excellerator 36cm). I tested that already...
Also i already dug several coins at more than 30cm deep in soil. Those were bronze coins with larger diammeters..2cm and larger..
Also i already dug one fantastic iron Roman spear (26cm long) at more than 50 cm deep in soil..
Those are examples i can swear on, because i experienced personally.
Other examples i can not confirm, i can only assume..
ivconic your opinion about this detector???
this detector is good for opration ????
please give info about coils 36cm??? TURN AND NUMBER WIRE ...
are coils like this picture A or picture B????
Advantages: easy to make, very deep, low budget.
Drawback: not so accurate Discrimination on larger and massive iron objects.
Conclusion:
* TGSL is the very best DIY if you want good depths and EXCELLENT Discrimination,
* SMW is excellent DIY, deeper a bit than TGSL but with a weaker Discrimination, also much better than TGSL with LARGE coils (over 25cm diamm.)
It is your choice;
- if you want extremly accurate and stabile metal detector with smaller coils and descent depths than pick TGSL,
- if you want very deep, stabile and average discriminating metal detector and you plan to use it with large coils (over 27cm diammeter) than pick SMW.
