you can see original detail in this address minipuls3)

    http://www.pulsdetektor.de/projekte/projektindex.html

I can help you for making this metaldetector step by step from first step

    to last step.

I make this and test . my minipuls3 can detect 10*10 cm iron plate at

85 cm . (by 35 cm dia coil 2.2 ohm)

    MINIPULS3PART1.ZIP : schematic,partlist,PCB layout,HEX file for ATmega8

MINIPULS3PART2.ZIP : photos for better understand.

    SOFTWARE.ZIP : software for programming minipuls3

    HARDWARE.ZIP : schematic,partlist,PCB layout ISP programmer

    CHARGER.ZIP : schematic,partlist,PCB layout battery charger

By these files you can make easily this metaldetector and can use this . (all

    of these test by me)

In past i make hammerhead,deltapuls,xr71,coinhawk,... but tell you , this

metaldetector very better of all these . you can test .

thank you NormanB(pulsdetektor forum) and 1843 for help.

    Hi Sisco!!!

    I need an information.

I would like to know how much uH measure the original coil.
I am referring to the coil used the first time, as described in the original project.

The resistance must be between 2,3 and 3 ohm.
I am looking for the inductance value.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,
    MaverickITA

    • Hi friends,
Sisco in this moment is not online.
I hope return there as soon as possible.

I need to know which is the value in uH of original coil or of the coil that work better with original schematic.
Who can help me to found this information?

I get about 600uH building the coil using the generic info on the official website, reading the pdf, and the circuit work in a bad way.
Therefore I think that Sisco has used a different coil.

I think that Sisco has found the correct value to use and the circuit perform better.
Are there friends that have built this circuit?
      Which are the results?
      Only Sisco get the best?

Is there a way to calculate the value of coil in relation to dump resistor?

Today I am making too much questions... sure. Sorry.

      • Sorry, there was a mistake.
I have checked the coil another time.

It measure 1,2 mH and 2,7 ohm.

        I wait yours. Thanks.

Seems really good ! Nice detector.

I can't remember now but I think I get similar results on Goldscan4, but maybe I'm wrong... I just use 20cm coil with GS4.

Anyway, nice to see there are good projects to play with on Pulsdetektor site.

What about bricks, pottery, ceramics ? Are they a problem when you use on the testfield ?

          Best regards,
          Max
wow.best depth for 10*10cm iron.so if finish GD4 please put here complete project
          regards

I have built it and with this coil 1 Euro coin is detected at 23cm in air.
Therefore I think the coil is wrong but it is that described in original PDF from the author.

                • Hi all.

New here and new to metal detecting also so please be gentle with me

Am curently building Minipuls 3 project. I chose this one as I had 99% of the components allready (Electronics is one of my hobbies) and looked to be quite good.
Board is finished and all seems to be working except the output to the coil, screen works and hear sound if I adjust control pots, software gets to point of "START DETECTOR".
Have conected scope to coil output and this is what I see.

                  0.0v

Sorry for bad diagram but cant post attachments. Probably as I am new on here.
Have checked my work/components many times and unable to find anything wrong.
I am now at the end of my rope. Is there anyone on here that has built this and had same problem ? and can tell me how it was solved.
Have been tinkering with electronics for many years as a hobby (but not an expert in any way)and have all the usual test equipment so can
reply with any info needed to help me with this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

                  John.

                    • Sorry diagram will not display correctly.
Basicly just getting pulse between 10v and 11.3v, freq is correct.

                      John.

                      • Dear all,

I have filled the Atmega8 program on the my chip, but the LCD does not come out. I checked the cable connection and was sure the connection was correct.
Does anyone know the correct fuse bit settings?
Can the chip be programmed without fuse bit settings?
                        Please help

Then, what can be done to reduce the heat?
