  • ionut_mtb's remark provoked me strong enough to surf the net and list several forums with same subject.
After 5 minutes i must admit; i am scared! Horrified!
Lot of reports of dead coils after the V4 update!!!
Whatever the reason... those people there can complain at local supplier within the guaranty period, i can't.
First... my Deus is almost 6 years old, any guaranty expired long time ago.
I can't talk to local servicer because... i am the local servicer!
Not official... because there is no official servicer in this region.
    So...
I don't have any of new HF coils,
i don't have pinpointer (this one is borrowed on 2 days),
therefore i can't use any of new and important features carried with V4, except the ability to lower Disc under zero (on second though; i can live without it).
Why would i insist on V4 in this case? No reason!
    Along with all these... i must say another thing that i noticed the other day, working with V4;
    - it drains coil battery faster,
    - when i switch from program to another program; occasionally it displays "No coil" for few second, than it finds a coil after a while. WTF!???
I noticed this at least 10 times that day, but somehow it slipped from my mind to mention it as remark.
Just now after reading about similar issues i recalled about that from the other day.
Many THANKS to ionut_mtb because he gave me enough reason to investigate deeper.
Something is indeed deeply rotten and wrong in V4 update, so it seems.
So what i did in last half an hour?
I downgraded it to 3.2 again, from the same installer. Than i discovered (forgot about) that i have 10 different coils memorized on my remote.
I can't delete them from a list?!?!? WTF!???
So i updated it again to V4, successfully deleted all the coils from the list (finally easy method, though enough stupid) and than i downgraded it again back to V3.2.
I intend to stay on V3.2 for infinite period. Or at least until i obtain some of the new HF coils.
Hopefully in meantime guys from XP will deal with this issue and solve it for good. Otherwise...
So... we had a good time... MI-6 and me! Now is time to say goodbye!
Now is time to make Nupi's pinpointer!
Nupi give me the link to schematic and final version!
    Thanks in advance!

          • Now... let me clear up few things here people!
By latest occurrences i don't mean to insinuate anything!
I don't have bad intentions towards XP and V4.
I am only too scared for my detector and coil, because i am not in position to easily replace faulty parts.
XP coils and accessories are damn hot expensive!
            I am not that rich!
Nor i have anybody here in this region to call and complain.
As part time "servicer" (smaller and easier services) i already experienced very bad situation and very bad and ugly attitude coming from such manufacturers towards small people and "third party" markets.
They'll do anything to flood you up with advertises and promises just to force you to buy their product, to waste your very hard earned money.
Once you do that; from that day further is like you don't exist for them anymore!
I am speaking this strictly from the perspective of customer from "third party" market. Not covered at all with customer services and customer care.
I am having very ugly experience with ALL brands! Literally ALL existing!
            XP among them too.
That sad reality actually pushed us here to start learning and start making our own detectors.
That's how great Bulgarian production started at the beginning. Turkish too.
If they don't mind about us; than we don't mind about them too.
So... pretty bitter, soar and sad experiences with those "western" manufacturers. Ugly too.
            ...
XP Deus firmware version 3.2 so far proved to be pretty reliable and stable. I've been using if for quite some time. So far i had no troubles with it at all.
So several minutes ago i finally decided to stay on V3.2
Thanks a lot... but no, i will not keep V4 by now.
            Cheers!

            • "Nupi give me the link to schematic and final version!"

              That's a good question!!!

              I think # 426.

Thread: Can pinpointer detecting thin chain?

              But I'm not sure.

                  Not likely.
A friend borrowed it to me for 2 days to test it and see what is all about.
In 2 days (Monday) i am sending it back to owner.
                  Stealing is shameful!
Only low minded people do that.

What about schematic of your pinpointer?
                  Any link?

                        • i don't trust this update also, looks like people from xp don't give any explanation. I will run back to 3.2 until i see some improvement. i've built nupi pinpointer before but i remember that was drifting and had to adjust everytime the pot. also drifting from temperature (cold/hot) and wet soil. maybe you can do it better Ivconic. Anyway when i go detecting i don't feel that i need a pinpointer, is to much for me. Solid shovel and detector is all that i need. i do the swipe back coil to pinpoint.

                          • I'm glad I've sold the Deus.
For me V3.2 is not an option!

I can't complain with V3.2, the other day i founded a gold coin with it.
Not only one. In last 5-6 years several such finds and hundreds of bronze and silver items too.
For my area, local types of soils; Deus is quite alright. I am satisfied.
But now with this V4 ... i am scared!
Like i explained the other day; i made 2 "subzero Disc" programs.
Also i added my favorite "12kHz" program too (explained too in previous posts).
On the field i am frequently switching from one to other programs.
Some weak and mum signals is better to be checked with various programs.
And than i noticed occasional and random "No coil" issue!!!
Never with V3.2 before, only with new V4.
Also my coil battery drained faster. I mentioned that too.
All that and news i got now; enough reasons to be scared and to take precautions.
                              ...
I am keeping older updates on hard disk.
Several minutes ago i searched through those files.
I am having complete offline updates V1, V2 and now V4.
V3, V3.1 and V3.2 were small online installations. Useless files now.
So i had to downgrade to V3.2 from V4 file package.
Looking all this... funny and strange "chronology"!
If you unpack V4 update; you'll find in there small files and large NET installation.
I wish i could obtain pure offline V3.2 installation, to keep it just in any case!
If things goes worse in time; i will not be able to perform pure offline V3-V3.2 update, only V1 and V2.
Heck... V2 was quite alright at the time too!

Will you need pinpointer or not in your searching; mostly depends on usual targets sizes.
I am searching mostly for small and smallest coins on local sites.
Sometimes those are the coins with only 4-6mm diameter, valuable though!
Even with 22.5 coil it is very tough to precisely locate such find in a whole.
Since it it still "double D" coil; it behaves pretty "cross-eyed" on such targets, i tell ya!
So many times i am spending more than several minutes to locate such tiny and small target (swearing&cursing around as loud as i can!)
Each time in moments like that; i swear to my self that i will start to make pinpointer a moment as i return home!
But also each time as i return home; i forget the troubles and give up from making one! Too lazy!
But now time has come to finally make one. Otherwise i will be at risk to accidentally damage some valuable find masked in hole like that.
The other day i discovered that large and nice Byzantine coin, the Justinian one.
That particular case pushed me to think more seriously about pinpointer!
Because it was pretty risky situation; coin was deep and hole was large and wide.
I came to dig a root from a plant just in the middle of hole. Root was large and strong, so i temporary gave up from digging and started to scratch the dirt with fingers.
And i "scratched" out that coin with fingers, randomly. Coin was exactly bellow the root!
I am scared to imagine what would be if there was no that root to protect the coin!?
Most probably i would cut it on halves! It would be huge waste of precious find, huge damage!
So... pinpointer in my case is MUST!
