  • Now this is the complete docs, I already search and got the doc but there is no sticky for this im afraid geting fail without sticky, thanks.

Btw, my bara coil cant make 2 beeps for iron, sometimes it does but mostly not, already use spesific part from sticky, maybe i put a bad quality part or something else.

iron rejection as far as I can tell is down three things

1 the objects size and shape. Long thin iron best
2 direction of swing and speed. lengthways and slow best
3 delay setting. Best for iron rejection is not best for depth.

Sorry it wasn't a sticky, as such, but Eduardos complete files zip from around page 20(?).
Bara isn't meant to make 2 beeps, its just that some people witness a less accentuated tone over iron. I did not notice this until I used headphones.

        • Let me check.
Another day i bring my cuda to my aunty to swing on her backyard over a wet clay ground, its very dificult, every spot is beeping, the only way to make it work is turn max the volume and hear the ground and metal beep, and this bara love a wet old piece of brick and wet roof clay tile if turn to pointer

          • I just got a L meter, and found that my coil is 480 uh R 1.5, L its too high.... 450uh is what i remeber.

            • Yes, I just checked. 450uH. Perhaps I should try some more coils. The best 2 I have are at about 430uH and 380uH. I realise this detector is not made to work with big coils, but it works really good with my 45x30 square coil off my Sniffer (3 rounds Cat5, flat wound,[-1=23]) which is around 450uH. Tonight I have marked out a melamine plate, 8 inches, 21 slots, to make a Mike Tuggle spiderweb coil. The largest wire I have is .5mm enamelled, but I have .63 on my watchlist. I will try .5mm. Teflon coated wire seems the best recommended for fast coils, but I am yet to find any.
Probably I should make/buy another Bara board, and try lower Rs on the 40106 (as recommended). Different or mis-matched T3-4s, re-instate switch/T5/etc. and other changes.
I need to finish my last 3 assignments for my Cert II Horticulture as a matter of urgency first, but I regularly get side-tracked with detectors

No matter, I am very happy with my Bara as is, and the coil on it is very light. My ML/Coiltek 11"mono for it/others should be here early next week. I received my concentric 10x5 for my GMT yesterday, and it is even more sensitive to small gold than the DD. 1.7g flour gold at 8 inches easy.
Also I have sourced a carbon lower shaft and alloy mid shaft for the arrival of my IDXpro and 6x4 BlueMax.

If you are interested have a look at the Falcon MD20 thread- I found a discrepancy with the diode connections (schem vs layout) that may explain why thread has gone idle. One of these on a long stick would be handy for poking around.

              So many wonderful projects here........

              • Concentric, DD coil? Is that compitable with bara, i dont know that.
I prefer make pcb my own, print, iron, peal, and ready to use many bara board, the cons is its just ugly.

                • Those coils are for my GMT. (Whites Goldmaster E series)
But you can convert any PI to take a DD coil easily. Apparently there is no advantage to this, but my Surfpro board came as a DD, so I set it up that way, and the 10x5ML commander on it far exceeds any other coil. Perhaps it would also be interesting to make/test a concentric in this fashion too?

                  • I built a DD but could not get the damping right. It see's the other coil or something;

                      430uh and i can get +/- 30cm for coin

                        Sounds good.

I used 450uH which is the same as the original. Anywhere around that inductance and there is no need to tweak the damping resistor.

Just one less thing I could get wrong.

                        • Great stuff ripsdevala!!
I'm still working on a dual field-10x5,430uH 3 winds cat5 outer, 3 winds inner. At the moment I'm at 330 outer damping and 1K5 inner. It's working great on my Newhobby NH5 (3 inches for 1.7g flour gold), but has constant ringing on the Bara, then when I adjust the 25K delay trimmer, to allow adjustment on the 10K pot, the sensitivity is very poor...
The 10x5 press-mold for heated pvc is the only one I have made yet, but it does make a nice solid housing.

                          • Yes, the housing, the material is come yesterday, clear resin + catalyst + black dye, will try to mold it on a shaped sterofoam

                            • I think the epoxy/fibreglass resin will dissolve the foam? I'm sure there are other methods in the coils section here.
I use 100mm pvc stormwater pipe. Cut to length, cut down middle. Heat in oven at 180C, press flat, cut to 3/4 inch larger than mold, then press into mold. Trim edges with tin snips. Expanded packaging foam sheets for filler, and then glue/clamp top on with white silicone. Easiest to trim top to size after silicone has set for 2-7 days. Ears are epoxy glued.
